Instruments

I have a nice collection of guitars, not for the sake of collecting, just for the variety of sounds and feels. I mainly play on electric guitar, and can’t really understand why everyone else doesn’t. I play mainly on an ‘02 Ibanez RG1580 and ’69 faux Fender Strat, using a Godin Solidac for the more overweight sounds. I dabble in everything else, drums, Virginie’s cello, keyboards, tin whistle, flute, ukulele, banjo, djembe, classical, folk and slide guitars.

Band Bio

Niall O Riordan Singer Musician Songwriter artist from Cork Ireland

Started out my live career in mid-eighties with Liz O’Riordan and Patricia Connery, who can be glimpsed playing great traditional and ballads around the country, in ’86 I joined Heavy Rock band, Gypsy’s Kiss, photos to follow – I formed Goldrush with Kevin McCormack, till he caught the ferry. then formed “Tanglewood” with Sinead Gowen aka Sinead Hart – she wails – watch out for her! I’ve played with as many people as I could over the last few years, notably Unknown Legends with Odhran O’Reilly and Paul Comerford; Grass Marjin with Paul Comerford, Kevin MacCormack, Aidan Moher, Pete Mullins, Alex Millepied, Ronan Hickey and Paudie Barry – more line-ups than Deep Purple, Nine-Inch Nails, and Charlie’s Angels put together (there’s an idea!) Since then I’ve shared the stage with many fine performers, notably Fatal Attraction, Kraze, and the Art Supple Band. I am now with Cork-based funk/soul/rock quintet, Arkadia – check out our website on the links page.

My Influences

I try to use all styles of music available to me, as I detest any form of purism, it makes music stagnant and dull. Anyone who takes pride in their performance is valid, so I’ll give anything one listen. My heart, however, lies in the music, images and production values of, for want of a less horrific description, the “Vietnam era”.
What a thrill it must have been to walk into a record shop, to be presented with such a dazzling array of inventive, enthusiastic, flamboyant creativity, served up on a 12”platter, to be paid for with a week’s pocket money! You can’t do that on a website – yet!
